Built on the important consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU) is a non-profit Chinese-foreign cooperative university jointly founded by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) with an independent legal entity status. Committed to building a world-class comprehensive and research-oriented university with distinctive strengths in its disciplines and global perspective, the University dedicates itself to the development of elite education as well as high-level research and innovation activities.
Approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education and in accordance with the “Implementation Measures for the Regulations on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Education” and the collaborative education agreement, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University conducts a joint graduate education program in partnership with Lomonosov Moscow State University. Through independent enrollment, students who meet the graduation requirements will be awarded a Master's degree certificate from Moscow State University.
Ⅰ. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a nationally recognized bachelor’s degree (the bachelor’s diploma must be obtained prior to enrollment). Non-Chinese citizens are required to hold a valid foreign passport, be in good health, demonstrate good moral character, and comply with Chinese laws, regulations, and university rules and regulations.

Final arrangements for students studying at Moscow State University are subject to the academic program requirements of their home department. Degree certification from the China Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) and treatment of returned overseas students requires completion of at least 180 days of study abroad.

Double asterisk (**): The four programs marked with ** will also admit outstanding non-Russian-speaking students in 2025. Applicants may take entrance exams in English. Admission is granted if requirements are met. After enrollment, students are registered at Moscow State University. First academic year is dedicated to Russian language study, enrollment status is placed on academic leave during this period. Upon achieving B1 proficiency in Russian, formal enrollment resumes, followed by a two-year degree program in the chosen field. Ⅲ. Enrollment Status, Program Duration, and Degree Award
(1)Enrollment Status:
Students will be registered as students of Moscow State University upon enrollment. Chinese nationals will also have their information recorded in China’s Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Enrollment System (this registration is not included in the National Student Information Management System of the Chinese Ministry of Education).
(2)Program Duration:
The master’s program has a duration of 2 years.
(3)Degree Award:
Students who complete all courses and credits required by the program, successfully pass the master’s thesis defense, and meet Moscow State University’s graduation and degree conferment requirements will be awarded a Master’s Degree Certificate from Moscow State University. Chinese nationals may additionally apply for overseas degree certification from the China Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) of the Chinese Ministry of Education.
Ⅳ. Study Mode and Faculty Allocation
Master’s students are jointly trained by Shenzhen MSU-BIT University and Moscow State University. The program follows Moscow State University’s academic curriculum and teaching quality standards. Primary instructors and academic supervisors are predominantly appointed by Moscow State University, faculty members from Shenzhen MSU-BIT University actively participate in teaching and supervision.
Ⅴ. Fee Structure and Scholarships
(1)Tuition Fees:
The annual tuition fee is 72,000 RMB (CNY). During study periods at Moscow State University, students will pay tuition fees to Moscow State University based on the duration of study and calculated according to Shenzhen MSU-BIT University’s current tuition standards for that academic year.
(2)Accommodation Fees:
Accommodation is assigned by the university. Annual accommodation fees:
3,600 RMB/person for double occupancy rooms or 2,400 RMB/person for triple occupancy rooms. During study periods at Moscow State University, students opting for on-campus housing will pay accommodation fees according to Moscow State University’s standards.
(3)Scholarships:
The university offers entrance scholarships and academic performance scholarships. Students may apply for scholarships after enrollment in accordance with relevant regulations. Scholarships will be disbursed once the student commences their degree program.
(4)Additional Provisions:
Non-Russian-speaking students admitted to Urban Ecology and Regional Planning, Fundamental Materials Science, Applied Mathematics and Informatics, as well as Strategic Development and Regional Management Program must study Russian in their first academic year, with a tuition fee of 50,000 RMB (CNY).
Non-Chinese nationals may voluntarily study Chinese in their first academic year, with a tuition fee of 50,000 RMB (CNY). During this period, their enrollment status will be managed as academic leave, and they will resume academic status in the second academic year to begin their degree program. Accommodation fees during the first year will follow the standards in Article 2 of this section. Tuition and accommodation fees for the second and third academic years (degree program) will follow the standards in Articles 1 and 2 of this section.

Ⅶ. Application Review Process
After the online application closes, the university will review all submitted materials. Applicants may log into the system to check their review status. The university will complete the review process by April 13th, 2025, at the latest. Only applicants who pass the review will be eligible to take the entrance examination organized by Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU).

(2)Admission:
Each program will admit students based on comprehensive rankings of total examination scores. Awardees of the Shenzhen MSU-BIT University’s academic competitions may participate in the ranking process for the 2025 SMBU Master’s Program entrance examination results without taking the exam, and will have the opportunity to qualify for direct admission to Moscow State University-affiliated master’s programs implemented at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University.
The university will first issue pre-admission notices and payment notifications. Official admission letters will be issued only after candidates sign the Moscow State University study agreement and pay tuition fees in accordance with the agreed timeframe. Specific admission requirements will be announced separately.

Introduction to Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU)
Established in 1755, Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) is the largest and oldest comprehensive higher education institution in the Russian Federation, renowned worldwide for its distinguished faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, academic rigor, and excellence. The university comprises 43 departments, 377 academic divisions, 15 research institutes, and a faculty of over 5,000 members. It enrolls approximately 50,000 students, including around 10,000 international students. MSU’s infrastructure includes four museums, six satellites, four supercomputers, and a medical research and education center.
MSU has achieved global recognition in fields such as Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Geology, Chemistry, and other scientific disciplines. Notably, the university boasts 11 Nobel laureates, 6 Fields Medalists, and approximately 300 academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
