Shenzhen MSU-BIT University is a Chinese-foreign cooperative university with independent legal person status, established through cooperation among the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, Beijing Institute of Technology, and M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (referred to as "Moscow University"). This establishment follows a significant consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The university aims to become a distinctive world-class international comprehensive research university, dedicated to elite education and high-level scientific research and innovation activities. Approved by the Ministry of Education in October 2016, the university enrolled its first undergraduates and master's students in 2017, its first doctoral students in 2018, established a post-doctoral innovation practice base in 2020, was selected for Guangdong Province's new round of high-level university key discipline construction in 2021, and became a supported institution of the National Natural Science Foundation of China in March 2022.
The Ministry of Education has authorized the university to implement Moscow University's master's degree education and conduct its admissions independently, in accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools and its implementation measures, and based on the cooperative education agreement.
I. Target Applicants
Outstanding undergraduates who have obtained a Bachelor's degree from higher education institutions recognized by the Ministry of Education or equivalent institutions.

*"Field" refers to Moscow University's major classification method, equivalent to "discipline" in China.
** Urban Ecology and Regional Planning, Fundamental Material Science, Applied Mathematics and Information Technology, and Inorganic Chemistry are four majors that also enroll outstanding non-Russian speakers in 2024. Candidates may take the entrance examination in English, and those who meet the admission requirements will be admitted. The duration of each program is two years. After enrollment, students will be registered at Moscow University, and the first academic year will be dedicated to learning Russian, with registration temporarily managed as a leave of absence. During the second and third academic years, students will study their major subjects, and their student registration status will be normalized, with Russian used to complete their major studies. It is particularly important to note that first-year Russian language studies must reach the B1 level in order for the student registration status to be normalized and begin major studies.
III. Student Registration, Duration of Study, and Degree Conferment
1. Student Registration. Upon enrollment, students are registered with Moscow University and also in the Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools student information registration system under the Chinese Ministry of Education (not included in the Ministry of Education's student registration management system).
2. Duration of Study. The duration of the master's program is 2 years.
3. Degree Conferment. Students who complete all required courses and credits as stipulated in the major training program, and pass the master's thesis defense in accordance with the graduation and degree conferment regulations of Moscow University, will be awarded a degree certificate from Moscow University and can obtain foreign credential and degree certification from the Chinese Ministry of Education.
IV. Learning Format and Faculty
Master's students are jointly trained by Shenzhen MSU-BIT University and Moscow University, using Moscow University's training programs and teaching quality standards. The instructors and student mentors are primarily selected by Moscow University, with the participation of teachers from Shenzhen MSU-BIT University in the training process.
V. Tuition Fees and Scholarships
1. Tuition Fees. During their studies at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, students pay tuition fees to Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, with an annual fee of 42,000 RMB. While studying at Moscow University, tuition fees are paid directly to Moscow University according to its current fee standards (for reference, the 2023 tuition fee standard for the mentioned majors at Moscow University ranges from 432,360 to 545,000 rubles per academic year).
2. Accommodation Fees. During their studies at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, the annual accommodation fee is 3,600 RMB per person (double occupancy) or 2,400 RMB per person (triple occupancy). While studying at Moscow University, if students choose to live in university accommodations, they pay the accommodation fees according to Moscow University's fee standards.
3. Scholarships. The university offers scholarships for new master's students and academic scholarships, which are available through an application process. For more information, visit: https://www.smbu.edu.cn/info/4591/67471.htm.
4. Other. Non-Russian speaking candidates who are admitted into the majors of Urban Ecology and Regional Planning, Fundamental Material Science, Applied Mathematics and Information Technology, and Inorganic Chemistry, will pay a tuition fee of 40,000 RMB for the first year of Russian language studies, with accommodation fees following the standards set in item 2. Tuition and accommodation fees for the second and third years of major studies will follow the standards set in items 1 and 2.
These students can apply for the new master's student scholarship after admission, which will be awarded after the commencement of their major studies; academic scholarships can be applied for after the commencement of major studies following the relevant requirements.
VI. Application
1. Application Period. February 4, 2024, to April 8, 2024.
2. Online Application. Applicants must register as new users and complete the online application accurately, completely, and truthfully by logging into the Shenzhen MSU-BIT University Graduate Admissions Information Website (https://gradadmissions.smbu.edu.cn) during the aforementioned application period. Applicants are required to fill in personal basic information online and upload other application materials as requested.
3. Application Materials. The following documents must be submitted for registration:
1) The 2024 Shenzhen MSU-BIT University Master's Program Application Form (electronic version in PDF format);
2) Transcript of undergraduate studies (official seal of the academic department required);
3) Personal CV (electronic version in PDF format);
4) Scanned copy of ID card and passport (if available);
5) If a Russian visa has been obtained before, a scanned copy of the passport visa page is required;
6) Scanned copies of the undergraduate diploma and Bachelor's degree certificate (current undergraduate students must provide a scanned copy of a certificate of enrollment from the academic department);
7) Scanned copy of foreign language proficiency certificates (it is recommended to provide proof of English or Russian language proficiency at the corresponding level).
8) Electronic photo. A color, bareheaded, 2-inch standard ID photo taken within the last six months, with no background color restriction, in JPG or JPEG format, and the file size must be less than 1024KB.
After the online application period ends, the university will conduct a preliminary review of the application materials. Applicants with complete and correct submissions will be eligible to take the entrance examination organized by Moscow University.

2. Admission. Candidates for each major will be selected based on their overall exam scores, with those who have won awards in our university's subject competitions having the opportunity to be exempt from the entrance exam for the 2024 Shenzhen MSU-BIT University master's programs, potentially qualifying for direct admission without examination to Moscow University's master's programs implemented at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University. The university will first issue a pre-admission notice and a payment notice. Official admission notices will be issued after pre-admitted students sign a study agreement with Moscow University and pay the tuition fee within the specified period according to the agreement. Specific admission requirements will be announced separately.
VIII. Physical Examination Requirements
The standards for student physical examinations are in accordance with the " Guidelines for Physical Examination of Ordinary Higher Education Enrollment" and relevant regulations set by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, and the China Disabled Persons’ Federation.
