From 26 to 30 Nov.2017, the 21st IAA “Humans in Space” Symposium was held in Shenzhen; as one of the three big events in the world aviation field, it is of great significance. The event was held in China for the second time, for the first time in the city outside the capital.
Our university invited Chinese astronaut Liu Boming and Russian astronaut Oleg Kotov to meet and talk with our teachers and students. The astronauts shared their space knowledge and experience, and engaged in direct talk with students, thus invigorating students’ interest in aerospace science, popularizing basic scientific knowledge in space field and improving their Russian language proficiency.
The astronauts arrived at the school at 10 o’clock in the morning. Rector Zhao Ping, Vice Rector Zhang Jianzhong and Secretary of the School Party Lu Wanwei greeted the astronauts at the school gate. Rector Zhao Ping guided the visitors to tour the school model of the permanent campus and the school library.
In the school auditorium, Liu Boming and Oleg Kotov made a keynote speech respectively, introducing astronauts’ life and work experience, all of which deeply attracted students of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, they immersed in the talk as if they were in the space world.
After the speeches, astronauts had the interactive talk with the students. Amazing questions about astronauts were raised by the students, and astronauts’ answers were so impressive. The seminar lasted for one hour and a half, and the students felt it was full of valuable information and they welcomed the astronauts come back to visit again.
Students thought it was a meaningful activity, from which they learnt much of astronautics in a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere and expressed that they will learn scientific knowledge step by step and make their contribution to the development and progress in the country and even the world at large.
