    SMBU AI Institute Teams Achieve Historic Results in China College IC Competition

    The South China regional finals of the 9th China College IC Competition concluded on July 18 with unprecedented success for Shenzhen MSU-BIT University. Under the careful guidance of professional faculty advisors from the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU), all five participating student teams from the Engineering Department achieved award recognition, marking a new institutional record in the university's competition history.

    In this competition, a study on Human Sitting Posture Intelligent Reminder and Correction System Based on AirBox and MaixCam developed by the team of Han Yun, Dong Jie, and Zhang Chengzhen, under the guidance of several professional faculty advisors from the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, secured first prize and earned advancement to the national finals. This project exemplifies the institute's exceptional teaching capabilities and research expertise in the development of intelligent hardware systems.

    Other award-winning projects were equally impressive. Under the guidance of the advisory team from the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, the team of Wang Guanlin, Dai Yan, and Cao Jiahao achieved regional second prize recognition for their Classroom Intelligent Teaching Assistance System Based on AirBox Micro-Server. Simultaneously, the team of Zhao Yubo, Wen Weicheng, and Zhang Yu earned regional third prize honors for their Portable Blind Assistance Obstacle Avoidance System Based on YOLOv8 Recognition Model and AirBox Micro-Server. The team of Chen Weiming, Zhang Zhihui, and Wang Jiran also won regional third prize honors with their Psychologically Empathetic Dialogue System Based on AirBox. Lastly, the team of Zhou Maiqi, Cheng Yuzhe, and Li Yuxiang won regional third prize honors for their Real-time Sign Language Translation Model Based on TPU Architecture.

    Zheng Jianbo, the faculty lead from the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, stated, "These achievements showcase not only the students' innovative abilities but also the teaching outcomes of our institute at the intersection of AI and intelligent hardware. We will continue to provide professional support to our national finalists and anticipate even greater achievements ahead."

    This competition, organized by the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, has consistently been included in the ranking list of Chinese university discipline competitions since 2019 and is one of the most influential undergraduate discipline competitions in the field of integrated circuits in China. The fact that SMBU's Artificial Intelligence Research Institute achieved comprehensive success in its inaugural multi-team participation demonstrates the institute's training strength in the field of AI applications.
