    2025 BRICS Information and Communication Excellence Training Program Russian Delegation Visits Shenzhen MSU-BIT University for Academic Exchange

    On October 16, the Russian delegation of the 2025 BRICS Information and Communication Excellence Training Program visited Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU) and held a successful roundtable discussion on campus. The meeting aimed to strengthen academic exchange and talent cultivation cooperation among BRICS countries in the fields of information and communication technology and artificial intelligence. Experts and scholars from the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian National Research Center for Telecommunications, and the China Branch of the BRICS Institute of Future Networks engaged in in-depth and productive discussions with university leaders and professors from SMBU.

    At the beginning of the event, participants watched the promotional video of SMBU, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the university’s educational philosophy, campus culture, and academic achievements.

    Prof. Sergey N. Ivantchenko, First Vice-Rector of SMBU, delivered a welcoming address. On behalf of the university, he warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of higher education and scientific collaboration under the BRICS framework in promoting technological innovation and addressing global challenges. He noted that SMBU, as a model of Sino-Russian educational cooperation, aspires to serve as a bridge connecting BRICS countries through talent and science.

    Prof. Chen Hui, Director of the China Branch of the BRICS Institute of Future Networks, together with his team of AI specialists, presented an overview of the institute’s mission and shared their latest research progress and strategic developments in artificial intelligence. Their presentation drew strong interest from attending experts and set a solid foundation for subsequent exchanges.

    During the open discussion session, participants engaged in a lively dialogue on emerging trends in AI technologies, collaborative innovation between industry, academia, and research, as well as future opportunities for joint research and talent development. From the Russian side, Prof. Tamara Yudina, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Prof. Evgeny Tongekh, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation at the Russian National Research Center for Telecommunications, shared their insights. From SMBU, participants included Prof. Jia Yunde, Head of the Department of Engineering; Mr. Mao Yufeng, Director of the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation; Dr. Sergey Shtarev, Director of the Department of Scientific Affairs; Ms. Kuang Yongzhen, Deputy Director of the Department of Scientific Affairs; and Mr. Tian Yiping, Senior Officer of the Department of Organization and Human Resources.

    Following the discussion, the delegation toured the SMBU campus, where they experienced firsthand the university’s unique academic environment and modern teaching facilities. The successful convening of this roundtable opened up new prospects for practical cooperation in frontier fields such as information communication and artificial intelligence, marking a vivid practice of the BRICS spirit of collaboration and joint cultivation of outstanding talents.
