Victor Sadovnichiy, rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, said in an interview by Sputnik in “International Science & Technology Policy and Popularization Workshop”, that under the leadership of Russian-Chinese comprehensive strategic partnership, the two countries’ cooperation in science&technology and education will continue to forge ahead.
Sadovnichiy said, under the leadership of Russian-Chinese comprehensive strategic partnership, two countries had much fruitful cooperation in the fields of science& technology, education and culture. As the strategic leader of scientific & technological and cultural cooperation for both sides, Moscow State University had carried out cooperation in practical fields with many Chinese educational and academic institutions, including well-known colleges and senior high schools from various provinces and cities. For the current time, MSU has already signed more than 150 cooperative agreements, among which many are joint education projects, and graduates can get two diplomas at the same time.
Sadovnichiy said, the most important project in scientific&technological and educational field is, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, which began its admission in 2017. It is the first China-foreign cooperative university that introduces high-quality education resources from Russia. From its majors we can see that such majors related to science and technology play an important role, which include Chemical Materials, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics for bachelor program, Nano Biotechnology and Bio-ecology for master program.
He said that 2018 admissions for bachelor and master program are underway, and it is planned to have admission exams in MSU from June 23 to 24, with the same majors to 2017’s. In addition, the permanent campus will have completed its construction work by December 2018, the total area will reach up to 200,000 square meters in areas such as education, science and technology, sports center and administration building. The main building of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University mimics the famous building in Moscow---the main building of MSU.
On May 20, 2014, education departments of China and Russia, in the witness of leaders of both countries, signed the MOU of the establishment of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University. For the tme being, the university adopts three languages as the teaching language, they are, Chinese, Russian and English, and some of the teachers are from MSU and BIT, while others recruited worldwide. Among them, teachers from MSU account for no less than 50% of the total number.
