On August 4, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University welcomed the second-batch of domestic undergraduate students in its history. Banners, balloons and welcome posters of three languages (English, Russian and Chinese) adorned the transitional campus, which highlights the feature of the school’s internationalization.
In 2018, our university recruits 130 Chinese undergraduates from eight provinces and one city (Guangdong, Heilongjiang, Shaanxi, Shandong, Anhui, Fujian, Hunan, Sichuan and Beijing), with four majors including International Economy and Trade, Russian language, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Materials Science and Engineering, among which 100 science students and 30 art students. The number of applicants reached 2,621, which was 3.1 times higher than that of 2017. Finally, 130 students were admitted. The implementation rate of the plan was 100%, and the enrollment ratio was 20.2:1.
In order to provide good service and environment for the freshmen and parents of Class 2018, our university set up reception stations for qualification check and registration, payment service stations, "green channel" reception stations, and rest areas for new students' relatives and friends, etc., which greatly facilitated students to go through the enrollment procedures. At 6:30 a.m., the first bus to greet the freshmen left campus for Shenzhen north railway station and Shenzhen airport. The staff in the school had been ready by 8 o 'clock to welcome the freshmen. 25 students from Class 2017, who are on summer vacation, came to the school as volunteers, assisting in the reception of freshmen, on-site consultation guidance and registration procedures. Some students just returned from the summer camp in Moscow the day before the orientation day.
Through the joint efforts of all the faculty of the school, all new students enrolled in the school successfully completed the registration procedures at around 5:30 p.m. About 20 journalists from more than 10 news media including China News Service, Education Online, Yangcheng Evening News, Shenzhen TV Station, Shenzhen Special Zone Newspaper, Shenzhen Daily Sunshine and sznews.com interviewed and reported on the orientation day.
