    ​Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov Visits Shenzhen MSU-BIT University

    On August 23, a delegation led by Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, visited Shenzhen MSU-BIT University. The delegation was welcomed by Stepan Kalmykov, Chairman of the University Board of Trustees, and Hezhang Li, President of SMBU. First Vice President Sergey Ivanchenko, Chaofeng Chen, Deputy Party Secretary and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, along with representatives of relevant university departments, also attended the meeting.

    In his remarks, Chairman Kalmykov noted that since its establishment, SMBU has consistently received strong support from all three founding partners and has achieved remarkable progress. He added that this year the university’s enrollment is expected to reach 5,000 students. Looking ahead, the university will continue to raise its research standards in order to meet the challenges of growing competition in higher education.

    On behalf of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, Hezhang Li welcomed Minister Falkov and his delegation. He outlined the university’s development in terms of its founding history, academic planning, research platform construction, talent training achievements, and cultural exchange initiatives. Li emphasized that, with strong support from all three founding partners, SMBU is working toward its goal of becoming a world-class, comprehensive, research-oriented university with distinctive characteristics. He noted that the university has already achieved important milestones across multiple fields and expressed hope for future collaboration with the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education to cultivate more outstanding talent for both countries.

    Minister Falkov thanked SMBU for the warm reception. He praised the university’s rapid progress under the guidance of Moscow State University, highlighting that within just a few years, SMBU has launched multiple academic programs and become a model of Sino-Russian cooperation in the humanities, receiving high recognition from the leaders of both nations. He further noted SMBU’s strong achievements in Russian language education, which has produced many outstanding specialists, and expressed his hope that deepening cooperation in education would continue to strengthen the friendship between the peoples of China and Russia.

    Following the talks, Minister Falkov and his delegation met with SMBU’s Russian language faculty in a warm and cordial exchange.
