On September 3, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University held an appointment ceremony for Professor Alex Kot, Academician of the Singapore Academy of Engineering and IEEE Life Fellow. University President Hezhang Li and First Vice President Sergey Ivanchenko attended the ceremony, which was chaired by Yanyi Guo, Director of the Human Resources Department. Also present were Professor Yunde Jia, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Qiyuan Cheng, Deputy Dean, Professor Jiwu Huang, Academic Leader, as well as faculty representatives, who together witnessed this important moment.
During the ceremony, President Li and Vice President Ivanchenko presented Professor Kot with certificates appointing him as Distinguished Professor and Chief Scientist of the university.

Professor Kot emphasized his commitment to contributing to the university’s growth, advancing the engineering discipline, and supporting the development of research platforms.
Vice President Ivanchenko highlighted the milestone significance of Professor Kot’s full-time appointment for the university’s development. He expressed his expectations for Professor Kot to provide strong academic leadership, establish internationally competitive research schools, and drive the advancement of engineering through cutting-edge research. He also noted that Professor Kot’s experience and resources would play a crucial role in cultivating high-level innovative talent and accelerating the Faculty of Engineering’s progress toward becoming a “world-class academic unit.”

He emphasized the special significance of holding the appointment ceremony on this particular day—the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. President Hezhang Li also set forth four expectations for Academician Alex Kot in light of the university’s development priorities. He noted that Professor Kot is expected to lead the formation of a core academic team in information science, attract more top-tier talent from China and abroad, mentor young scholars, and advance the scientific planning and long-term development of the Faculty of Engineering.
